A meeting of European Dominican Laity in Caleruega - 60 Lay Dominicans representing 25 of the 27 lay Provinces and Vicariates of Europe gathered in Caleruega, Spain, from the 26th to the 30th of May to celebrate the 8th European Assembly of Lay Dominican Fraternities. Throughout the meeting they celebrated the joy of being together drinking the same living water from the wellspring of St. Dominic in his place of birth. They enjoyed working together enriched by the differences between their various cultures and histories.
The meeting elected the following as members of the European Council of Lay Dominican Fraternities (ECLDF): Jean Michel Solente (Province of France), Leny Beemer-De Vos (Province of Netherlands), Jacinta O’Donnell (Province of Ireland), José Antonio Muñoz Mata (Province of Betica), Ruth Henderson (Province of San Domenico, Italy). Klaus Bornewasser from Province of Germany has been elected to be member of ICLDF, starting in June 2012.
