We keep celebrating our Tenth DVI Anniversary… This issue brings forth the “memory” of previous and current co-directors. The first co-directors Sr. Veronica Rafferty and Fr. Jerry Stookey share the challenges they faced. Current co-directors Sr. Rose Ann Schlitt and Fr. Ed Ruane tell us of the growth they have witnessed in DVI. That’s not all!

Matthew about his mission in the Philippines |
|
Matthew Jarvis writes on Phildom (Dominican Newsletter, Philippines) about his experience: "Camiguin is a “mission area” primarily because of its isolation. What did we do there? My main aim, like Bro. Pooh’s, was simply “exposure” to life in Camiguin, to witness how the Dominican mission works – what they do, how, why, and what still needs to be done."

The Mission of Preaching: DVI's volunteers. The Jubilee theme for this year continues to remind us of this fundamental challenge to the Order of Preachers. We present another newsletter to highlight the 10TH ANNIVERSARY of DVIs participation in the mission. Ours is a privileged work in the office when we receive communications from our lay volunteers who are at the same time missionaries and preachers.

A project of the Dominican Family: Gospel in Action. Dear Brothers and Sisters, During the Congress of Regents, held in Rome in the month of November 2009, every Regent received a DVD entitled" THE GOSPEL IN ACTION ", that tells the story of a few Dominican brothers announcing the Good News to the poor. The idea was to begin a series of short videos that could show the apostolate of the brothers and sisters around the world. At the end of this video the Master of the Order invites each of us to produce some videos and to send them to the General Curia in Santa Sabina. The videos will be available for all to view on our website: http://internet.op.org/ This will be a concrete way of making a contribution to the General Chapter of Rome (September 2010).

Luzmari from the Philippines |

Luzmari, DVI volunteer in the Philippines write about her mission with Aeta people: I am happy to inform you that on March 10, my 28 grade 3 pupils received the sacrament of reconciliation and on March 11, they also received their 1st communion. It was like celebrating a feast day because their parents and the whole school community joined them in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and in the snacks and lunch given by some generous friends of the sisters and cooked by their parents.
